HD Radio

Paula Ryan (Weekdays 5-9am)
Born and raised in Wilmington, DE. Mom to 8-year-old Kate. I was late getting into radio, making a major career change at 26. I've been with WXCY for 5 years and it is the best working environment I've ever been in. The people here are great and the listeners are fantastic. In my free time I like to spend time with Kate, watch movies, walk and read.

Mike Joseph (Weekdays 5-9am)
My family is spread throughout New Castle-Cecil-Baltimore. I was born in Baltimore and for my first several years lived in the city. Then, the neighborhood became the hood and we moved to the Glen Arm area of Baltimore county. I lived there until college where, as far as I can remember I lived mainly with friends and on various couches around Towson. I graduated from Towson University in 2000. (just a shade under 6-years) The odd thing about my career path is that I never planned on being in radio. I graduated with degrees in business, communication and a minor in physics. (you tell me?) Through all my school years I played baseball and probably could have made a run at the majors if I hadn't destroyed my knees in a motorcross accident. I still play ball and with the way the O's and Phillies look, I may still have a shot in the "bigs." I've been at WXCY for five years now and love it. WXCY has become my home and my co-workers have become like family. Well, when I say family, I mean like the crazy uncle who gets nutty at the family Christmas party and drinks his weight in egg nog.

On the weekends I'm either at my cabin with my Dogs, and four-wheeler, or I'm playing with my band. Last August I asked the love of my life, Stephanie, to marry me and as Chad Brock said, she said yes. We will be married this November...Poor girl.

Drewe Phinny (TrafficWatch)
Drewe has been WXCY's Traffic Reporter since 2002. It's his second stint with Delmarva Broadcasting. From 1995 to 2000, he hosted WDEL's Morning News at the Wilmington A.M. facility. During the interim, Drewe honed his traffic skills working for the Delaware Department of Transportation. Before that, he claims to have worked as a DJ at pretty much every station east of the Mississippi, including morning shows in Des Moines, Rochester, Louisville and Richmond. Along with morning and afternoon traffic updates every 10 minutes, Drewe also participates in the Tom Foolery that is the Paula and Mike Show and on the drive home with Chris Duff. Drewe is also a freelance writer for some local publications including Cecil County Connections, The Chester County Press, Newark Life magazine and Middletown Life Magazine. He has also written for The Cecil Soil and The Cecil Whig. Drewe's goal is to write for every publication that has the word Cecil in it.

Jennifer Phoenix (Weekdays 9am-2pm)
I was born and raised in Palm Springs, CA. Many people ask me, why would I leave California? Well, in radio you have to move around a lot. I started my radio career in the mid 90's, at a country station in Arizona and also spent many years on the air in Baltimore. Finally, I get to work for a company who cares about their employees. I've been friends with Mike Joseph for 8 years, so I've been pestering him to help me get a job here forever.

I'm a huge animal lover and try to support animal adoptions in our community. My dog is a three year old German Shepherd named Paige, I rescued her from Mid Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue. I am looking to add another dog soon. I will keep checking out our "WXCY Pet Page", and let you know when I adopt another dog.

You can hear me weekdays from 9a-2p. Don't forget to call me with your request at noon, for the Country Lunch Break! If it were up to me, I would only play Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Phil Vassar and Carolyn Dawn Johnson... you're saying Carolyn who, guess you better call!!!

Chris Duff (Weekdays 2-7pm, Saturdays 6pm-Midnight)
Born and raised in Aberdeen Maryland, Chris is the newest member to join the WXCY team! He’s a graduate of Harford Technical High School in Bel Air, and The Broadcasting Institute of Maryland in Baltimore. In the fall of 2001, he got his first gig in radio, at a little AM station in Baltimore. Since then he’s done Rock, Top-40, Oldies, Sports Talk, and now Country. His former stations include: WJRO, WAMD, 93.5 The Beach, Classic Rock 98.5, B 95.3, & Mix 107.3 in Washington D.C.

Chris loves to entertain and has wanted to be on the radio since he was a little kid. When he’s not on the air, he loves to hang with family & friends, play with his dog Joy, sing with his band, go for a hike, take a drive into the country side, and enjoy a cold beverage or two! Also he’s a huge Baltimore sports fan; Go Ravens, O’s, & Terp’s!!

Listen weekday afternoons from 2 pm to 7 pm, to hear your favorite country superstars, traffic & news updates, comedians, and a few laughs with Drew!!!

Dave Hovel (Weeknights 7pm-Midnight)
Born and raised in Bel Air, Dave has been with WXCY since they turned the lights on March 1, 1989. Dave originally hosted workdays at WXCY, then moved to afternoon drive in 1990. In 2007 he decided to tackle evenings and host the all new “Big Show”. If you don’t see Dave at a concert on the weekend, he’s probably watching something on the big screen or at Camden Yards for an O’s game in the summer or a Wings lacrosse game in the winter on the weekend. Just like Dave’s childhood idol, Bob Barker, he reminds you to “Help Control The Pet Population And Have Your Pet Spade Or Neutered.” Also, check out the Big Show weeknights from 7 till midnight. There’s a nightly dose of Nascar with the Final Lap Exclusive and every night 10, check out the Triple Play, just in time to help you get ready for bed.

Allen Scott (Weeknights 12Mid-5am)
I was one of those people that knew I wanted to be in radio since I was a little kid. At the age of 14 I was able to get a job at a local radio station in Lewistown, PA., and the rest as they say, is history. I've been doing this for well over 20 years now and enjoy every day. At WXCY I enjoy being able to keep all the third shifters company on the overnight. Hey, it's not easy having to work the kinds of hours we do! I'm here Monday through Saturday from Mid until 5am and if you ever want to get in touch, just send me an email.

Tyler Daniel (Saturday Noon-6pm, Sunday Midnight-6am)
Tyler began his endeavour in radio with WXCY in the summer of 2004, when he finished his college education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia as a musical theater major. Starting off in the promotions department, Tyler was there for the birth of the WXCY Loyal Listener Club and has only seen it climb from there. Tyler loves spending the weekend with listeners in the am and pm, introducing listeners to the newest in country music! From Saturdays 12pm to 6pm, and Sundays midnight to 6am, Tyler loves it all! When not working at WXCY, Tyler is a DJ at local hang outs in Bel Air, as well as being the front man of the modern country band "Walk ins Welcome." He loves listening to all types of music and loves going to Orioles and Ravens games. His heroes include Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Frank Sinatra, Lionel Richie and Cal Ripken Jr.

Jim King (Weekends & TrafficWatch)
Born in Baltimore, MD, Jim has two careers in his portfolio, first with General Motors where, in 1967, he worked on the assembly line. In 1985 he was named communications coordinator responsible for the operation of the plant’s closed circuit television system.

In 1982, Jim followed his dream of radio broadcasting and was first hired by a station with familiar call letters, 103.7 FM, WHDG in Havre de Grace, MD. While there, he also worked at the sister station 1330 AM, WASA. His broadcast journey took him to five other radio stations in the Baltimore area.

Jim also served our country for four years in the United States Air Force. He has been stationed in Denver, Colorado, Osan AFB in Seoul, Korea, and Clovis, New Mexico. Jim is married with two grown children. In his spare time, you may find Jim and his wife Evelyn in Atlantic City, NJ or just sitting around the house watching television.

Although you’ll hear Jim mainly here on the weekends, you may catch him at anytime, doing traffic reports or filling in elsewhere. Check him out, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. It’s the "Weekend Party" only on The Country Station, 103.7, WXCY.
