Often times you'll hear us use words or phrases that may not make sense to you. Because of this we've compiled a list of terms and phrases that we call "PaulaandMikeansese."
1. "Giggity Giggity" or any variation thereof: A phrase used when one wishes to express excitement about something.
2. "You're ants @ a picnic": If you're "ants @ a picnic" it means that you're pessimistic or raining on a parade.
3. "Wacky Wednesday":Often you'll hear us talking funny on Wednesdays and proclaiming it "Wacky Wednesday." All this is is us making fun of those "other" DJ's who find it necessary to talk in a really big "radio voice."
4. "Zoltan":Drewe's alter ego.
5. "The King of Traffic Land":Drewe's other alter ego.
6. "Black Helicopter":If you hear us say "your so black helicopter" all it means is that a person is convinced that forces are conspireing against them. Get it, like a government black helicopter.
7. "You're so Bed Bath and Beyond":A phrase used when a man is in touch with his feminine side.
8. "The Insane Sandwich Man":Ken Brown, our General Sales Manager who often brings us delicious breakfast sandwiches from the North East Grocer.
9. "Golf Clap":A quiet round of aplause for something that is moderately pleasing.
10. "That's money"If we say something is "money" it simply means that we like that "thing" a lot. 11. "The voice modulator":The aparatus by which Drewe changes his voice to sound official or like an authority figure.
12. "Hurt":Hurt refers to something or someone that is less then appealing.
13. "So Britney":Another way of saying "so crazy."
14. "Pig Pen":The nickname Mike gave to Paula for always wearing the same sweatshirt. (Edited by Paula to say, It's a hoodie. A HOODIE!!! You can wear it more than once without washing!!!)
15. "Cougs": Our nickname for DJ and production director Allen Scott. When he first arrived we couldn't remember his name, so we just kept adding names on. As in: Allen Scott Cougar Mellencamp Ayers Allen Rashad Jolie Pitt Cox Arquette. We shortened it to Cougs.
16. "Parking Lot Fight": A challenge, usually thrown down after a rude comment has been made by one of us to the other. i.e.: Mike, meet me in the parking lot at 9 for a beatdown. It never actually happens.
17. "Practice Hour": Between 5 and 6 AM. We are on the air, but we call it the practice hour because we usually slip up and make mistakes at this time. Well, Mike does.
18. "Chuckles": Fictional comedy club where Drewe hones his stand-up. Location is vague, sometimes next to Woody's in North East, sometimes in the Big Elk Mall.
19. "Toss His/Her Desk": A little activity we like to do in our spare time before the office staff arrives. Involves throwing a person's desk over or turning it completely upside down. Always mean. Always enjoyable.
20. "Cafe Phoenix": A sad little set of patio furniture Jennifer Phoenix has claimed as her personal space. Usually features a banana, McDonald's bag or whatever has been thrown there by us.
21. "The Duffster": Afternoon Drive personality Chris Duff. aka: "Tom Cruise", aka: "Risky Bidness".
22. "The Bosses": Collective term for our general manager, program director.
23. "The Wheel of Meat":Former WXCY prize wheel, stolen by morning show and covered with ridiculous pictures, most having nothing to do with meat.
24. "I Like the cut of your Jib":A compliment, meaning, "I like the way you think!"
25. "Throw Down With The Hoe-Down!" This simply describes the Paula and Mike experience of having too much fun and playing too much great country music! (Like you could ever have too much of either!)
**Have you heard "I'm From Delaware" by local artist Todd Chappelle? - Be sure to check the audio archives to hear the song.

Now...A little info about Paula and Mike...
Let's see, a little about me.
I'm not blonde. Everyone thinks I am, but I just sound like it. I'm the mom of the lovely Kate who will be 9 in March. I was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and I still live in the same neighborhood I grew up in. Kate and I live in a REALLY old house that we both love with our cats, Larry and Rudy. Occasionally, Kate will win a goldfish at a fair, but between the cats and Kate's need to feed the fish 8 times a day...they don't last long around here.
Most of my time is spent helping Kate with homework or driving her to Tae Kwan Do (she's a Black Belt Recommended!) but I enjoy reading, walking, talking to my plants, cooking, movies and going out to dinner. I really enjoy wine and like to try different bottles, especially from local vineyards.
I've been hosting the WXCY morning show for 5 years and I love, love, love it! Country music fans are the best in the world!!!

 | Just a good ole' boy, never meanin' no harm...
(I miss Hazzard Co.) |
Roots: Born and raised in Baltimore with most of the family there and in Cecil County. Even though I'll always call this area home, part of me does feel as if I was meant to live in a different time. A six shooter on my side just feels right to me. Here's a link to some pictures of my life. http://s203.photobucket.com/albums/aa72/Mhofstetter/?start=0
Pets: Two dogs, Kiaya and Cody. Kiaya's a golden retriever and Cody is a shepherd/lab mix. I also own a small all-natural dog treat company called Kiody Snacks.
Favorite Food: Spaghetti and meatballs.
Favorite person: Dogs, yeah, I mainly like Dogs.
Hobbies: I'm a very simple man who's content being alone at my cabin in the middle of the mountains, or in a crowded bar playing my guitar, other then that, pretty basic really...I love sports, music, food, the outdoors, and anything so dangerous that people can't watch.
Most used (and regretted) words: I wonder what that mountain goat will do if I...
Claim to fame:I once took a run at the Guiness Book of World Records by becoming the man to eat the worlds largest cheese steak. I gave it a go but I got distracted when a dog with a fluffy tail ran by.
GO RAVENS AND O'S. Go away Peter Angelos and Brian Billick!-1 Down! | |
